Very nice Wehrmacht Grenadier related Kriegsverdienstkreuz award document in used, but very good condition.
The document shows overall normal signs of wear. It's named to Unteroffizier Fritz Hartwich who served in the 1.Kompanie Grenadier Regiment 196. This unit was formed in late August 1939 as Infanterie Regiment 196 and was part of the 68.Infanterie-Division. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland in September 1939. After that it participated in the invasion of France and in June 1941 onwards it fought in Russia in areas like, Tscherkassy, Isjum , Woronesh and Beskiden. In Otober 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Regiment 196.
The medal was awarded on the 20th of April 1943.
Its signed by Generalleutnant Hans Schmidt, wearer of the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold (April 1943) and Ritterkreuz des Eisernes Kreuzes (1944).
