The document shows overall signs of wear. The medal was awarded on the 1st of September 1944 to Feldwebel Wilhelm Behrens who served within the 2.Kompanie Panzerjäger Abteilung 22. This unit was formed in October 1935 in Bremen as Panzerabwehr Abteilung 22 and was part of the 22.(LL) Infanterie-Division. In April 1940 it was renamed into Panzerjäger Abteilung 22. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of the Netherlands. After that it moved to Rumania and then Russia. In August 1942 the division and her units moved to Afrika.
