The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a NCO/CO that served in the Regimentsstab Infanterie Regiment 278. This regiment was formed in late August 1939 and was part of the 95.Infanterie-Division. It saw its first combat during the invasion of France in Mai 1940. From June 1941 onwards it operated in the east in Urkaine, Brjansk, Kursk, Rshew, Gomel, Bobriusk and more.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
