Very nice zinc Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 1.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 240. This regiment was formed in December 1940 and was part of the 106.Infanterie-Division. It saw its first combat during the invasion of Russia which started on the 22nd of June 1941. It operated in areas like Wilna, Witebsk, Smolensk, Wjasma, Rshew, Charkow and Kischinew.
In October 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Regiment 240.
