Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Infanterie related tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 1.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 282. This regiment was formed in late August 1939 and was part of the 98.Infanterie-Division. It saw its first combat during the invasion of France in May 1940. After the defeat of France the division and her units went on leave (in France) until February 1941. In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and operated in areas like Kiew, Moskau, Juchnow, Spass-Demensk, Kuban and the Krim.
In October 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Regiment 282. In May 1944 the regiment was destroyed in the Sewastopol area.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
