The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a (pilot) soldier who served within the 3.Staffel Fernaufklärungsgruppe 122. This Staffel flew its first missions during the invasion of Poland in September 1939. After that it participated in the invasion of Holland, Belgium and France. It also played a role during the Battle of Britain. It was equipped with the He 111, Ju 88 and Me 110 aircrafts.
The airbase of the 3.Staffel was mostly in Holland, Schiphol and in 1944 in Soesterberg. In between it was also in Istres, France.
