Very rare! and very impressive! wooden hand carved Luftwaffe Bau Kompanie wall plaque in excellent condition.
The plaque shows overall normal signs of aging. Very nice detailed piece! It was issued to a soldier who served in the Luftwaffen-Bau Kompanie 9/XI or it was issued to the entire kompanie. Luftwaffen-Bau Kompanie 9/XI was formed in the first half of 1940. In June 1940 they were used to form a bataillon and it was renamed into Luftwaffen-Bau Bataillon 9/XI. In the summer of 1943 the bataillon was renamed Luftwaffen-Bau-Bataillon 109./XI (K). The (K) stands for Kriegsgefangenen.
On the back the ornament is named 'R.Bastian' and marked with Feldpostnummer 'L18772' which refers to Regimentsstab Luftwaffen-Bau-Regiment 7/XI. This was probably the soldier who made it.
The piece measures 61cms*49cms*5cms and weighs more then 3,3kgs!
