Very nice Wehrmacht Panzer Abwehr Kompanie related tag in excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It's complete with neckcord. The tag belonged to a soldier who served in the 14.Panzerabwehr Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 488. This regiment was formed in late August 1939 and fell under the 268.Infanterie-Division. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of France in May 1940. After this the next mission was the invasion of Russia that took place in June 1941. It operated in areas like Smolensk, Jelnja, Wjasma, Juchnow and Mogilew.
In October 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Regiment 488. The regiment was disbanned in 1943 and the remnants were used to form the Regimentsgruppe 488.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
