The photograph was issued 2 days after Walter died because of illness on the 9th of May 1943.
Walter earned the Ritterkreuz on the 15th of July 1941 for his actions on the Fortress of Kowno (Russia). He also earned the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub on the 27nd of June 1942 as commanding General of the II.Armee-Korps for his actions on Festung Demjansk.
The size of the photograph is 13cm*18cm. Dated 11.05.1943.
