The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in a Reiter Schwadron Aufklärungs Abteilung 36.Infanterie-Division. This unit was formed in late august 1939 from Kavallerie Regiment 6. In November 1940 the abteilung became motorised. In November 1941 the unit was renamed into Voraus-Abteilung 36 and in March 1942 it was disbanned. The remnants of the abteilung were absorbed within Kradschützen-Bataillon 46.
