The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the Grenadier Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 47. This bataillon was formed in late August 1939 as Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 47. It trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 47 which was part of  the the 22.(LL) Infanterie-Division
In November 1942 the bataillon was renamend into Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 47 and in April 1943 it became the Grenadier Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 47. In the summer of 1944 (August) it also started to supply soldiers for the 560.Volks-Grenadier-Division. A month later, in September, the bataillon was mobilized and moved to the Netherlands. It was probably used to form the I.Bataillon Grenadier Regiment 1221 which was part of the 180.Infanterie-Division and operated in the Venlo area.
A new Grenadier Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon 47 was formed in late September 1944 and now also supplied soldiers for units that were part of the 180.Infanterie-Division and also the 561.Volks-Grenadier-Division
The '-B-' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
