Nice zinc Wehrmacht Grenadier related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the Stammkompanie Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon (motorisiert) 92. This unit was formed in late August 1939 in Griefwald as Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon (motorisiert) 92. It trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 92 which was part of the 2.Infanterie-Division. This division saw is first action during the invasion of Poland that took place in September 1939.
In October 1939 Infanterie Regiment 92 became part of the 60.Infanterie-Division. This division operated in Rumania and Serbia before it moved to the east to fight in Russia. It operated in areas like Shitomir, Charkow and Stalingrad where it was destroyed. Rebuild in April 1943 in the south of France and named Panzergrenadier-Division Feldherrenhalle.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
