Very nice zinc Wehrmacht Grenadier related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served/was drafted in the Genesenden Kompanie Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 376. This unit was formed in late August 1939 and trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 376. This regiment was part of the 225.Infanterie-Division.
In Juni 1940 the bataillon was used (for a month) to supply soldier for the III.Bataillon Feldrekruten Regiment 237 in Poland. In 1941 the bataillon moved to Denmark. In November 1942 the Ersatz Bataillon returned to Germany and was renamed Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 376. In September 1944 the bataillon moved to Holland and was used to form II.Bataillon Grenadier Regiment 1226 which was part of 190.Infanterie-Division.
In late 1944 it was stationed and fought Kleve (Reichswald area) and 1945 it fought in the Venlo area.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the bloodtype of the soldier.
