The moment the photo was taken Ersnt was General des 8.Armeekorps.
Ernst earned the Ritterkreuz on the 16th of May 1940 as commander of the 16.Armee. He also earned the Ritterkeuz mit Eichenlaub on the 21st of August 1943. Besides these high awards he earned a lot more such as the Demjanskschild, Wehrmachtbericht, Pour le Mérite.
The size of the photograph is 13cm*18cm. Dated 14.02.1938.
