The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 5.batterie Reserve Flak Abteilung 265. This unit was formed in late August 1938 in Hamburg from the II.Abteilung Flak Regiment 26 and consisted out of 5 batteries. (1-3 heavy, 4-5 light).
The abteilung was renamed into gemischte Flak Abteilung 265 at the beginning of 1943 and the 5th battery was used to form the 5.batterie Flak Abteilung 615 which operated in Bremen. In late 1943 the 5.batterie was used to form the 5.batterie schwere Flak Abteilung 531 and operated in Schweinfurt.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier bloodtype.
