The regiment became Flieger Regiment 61 in August 1942 and it was renamed Luftwaffe Jäger Regiment 26 in November 1942. It served under the 13.Luftwaffe Feld-Division and fought in Russia in areas like Wolchow, Ladoga and Pleskau.
