Nice aluminium Wehrmacht Bau related tag in used, but very good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 4.Kompanie Bau Bataillon 99. This unit was formed in late August 1939 from RAD men. It operated for the first time during the invasion of Poland as part of the 10.Armee. In May 1940 it participated in the invasion of France as part of the 16.Armee. After the defeat of France it stayed there and fell under the command of the Marinebefehlshaber Nordfrankreich. In May 1941 the unit was renamed into Wach-Bataillon (B) 99 and in June of that year it moved to the east.
