Very nice zinc World War 1 tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to Walter Krückemeyer who was born in the 13rd of September 1898 and drafted in the 3.Kompanie Ersatz Bataillon Infanterie Regiment 64. This regiment was part of the 20.Division. This division saw it's first combat in Namen (Belgium) and Reims (France).
Along the way Walter must have switched units to the 8.Kompanie Reserve Infanterie Regiment 92 which was part of the 19.Reserve-Division. This regiment fought till Mai 1917 in France in areas like the Somme, Verdun and Aisne. Then is was moved to the east and fought in Riga.
In September 1917 it moved back to the westfront again and operated in France and Belgium in areas like Champagne, Verdun, Flandern and Anwtwerp.
