Very nice aluminium II.Abteilung Artillerie Regiment 1 dog tag in used, but excellent condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Stabsbatterie II.Abteilung Artillerie Regiment 1. This regiment was formed on the 1st of January 1921 as one of the 2 Reichswehr Artillerie Regiments and named 1. (Preußische) Artillerie-Regiment. In October 1935 it was renamed into Artillerie Regiment 1. It was part of the 1.Infanterie-Divison. With this division the regiment was put into action during the invasion of Poland.
After Poland it participated in the invasion of France via Belgium.
However the Stab of the II.Abteilung together with some batteries was used to form the Stab of the II.Abteilung Artillerie Regiment 21 and this took place before the invasion of France. A new II.Abteilung Artillerie Regiment 1 was formed straight after this took place. Artillerie Regiment 21 saw its first combat during the invasion of Russia on te 21st of June 1941 as part of the 21.Infanterie-Division.
Very nice tag of an Artillerie Regiment with a rich history.
The tag comes with a lucky charm.
