The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 'Schwere Flak Ersatz Abteilung 39'. This unit was formed in December 1940 in Koblenz with 5 batteries. In 1941 it was converted into a Schwere Abteilung. The unit operated the entire war in Koblenz. On the back of the tag his POW number (729228) is carved in.
