The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the '4.Batterie Reserve Flak Abteilung 301'. This unit was formed in August 1939 in Gotha with 5 batteries (1-3 Schwere/ 4-5 Leichte). In July 1942 the abteilung was reorganized in to Schwere Flak Abteilung 301. At the same time the 4.Batterie was used to form the 3.Batterie of Leichte Flak Abteilung 893. Straight after a new 4.Batterie was formed for Abteilung 301. It was the entire war stationed in Bochum as part of the 22.Flak-Division.
