The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Musikkompanie Infanterie Regiment 195. This regiment was formed in late August 1939 and was part of the 78.Infanterie-Division. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of France in May 1940 and after that it participated in the invasion of Russia that took place in June 1941. It saw combat in the areas of Smolensk, Jelnja, Rshew and Orel.
