What makes this canteen special is that the cover has 3 buttons instead of 4, which is very scarce and occurred only occasionally on canteens of later production and on gabardine covers. Alle the parts of this canteen are in exceptional condition and the leather is supple. It comes with a red painted steel canteen which is marked 'JSD4', which means the maker is 'J.Schmalzder Erben' from 'Dresden'. The green aluminium cup is marked by the same maker 'JDS43'.
Overall a very nice and beautifull canteen with a rare 3-buttoned cover.
