The tag shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within Luftwaffe Bau Kompanie 14/XII. This unit was formed in June 1940. In the summer of that year it was used to form Luftwaffe-Bau-Bataillon 6./XVII. From November 1940 on the bataillon operated in Herdla, Norway.
Luftwaffe Bau units where responsible for constructing buildings and shelters on airfields, but also fuel, ammunition dumps and infrastructure.
