Very nice brown leather Wehrmacht issued map case in used, but very good condition.
The map case shows overall normal signs of wear. The leather is supple and solid. It's complete with all the straps. Nicely marked by the maker 'Otto Koberstein' from Landsberg and dated 1938. It's also marked 'L.B.A.B.37' which stands for Luftwaffe Bekleidungsamt 1937. Beneath this marking its unit marked 'II/K.G.253' which stands for II.Gruppe Kampfgeschwader 253. And last but not least it's also marked 'Ln.Kp' which stands for Luftnachrichten Kompanie.
This II.Gruppe was formed in April 1936 in Erfurt and in June 1936 it was named Kampfgeschwader 253 'General Wever'.
In Mai 1939 it was renamed into Kampfgeschwader 4 'General Wever' and was equipped with the Heinkel He111 bomber. It saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland. After Poland it operated during the different campaigns and had different bases in different countries such as in Denmark (Allborg), Holland (Einhoven, Soesterberg), Russia and Germany.
