Large Wehrmacht soldier's portrait plus his death notice.
Both items show overall normal signs of wear. The larger (sketched) portrait of Josef Küffen shows him in his Waffenrock and with his Schirmmütze on his head. The number 469 on the slip on on his shoulder strap indicates Josef served in a unit with this number and after doing some research we found a (scan) of a period (dead) notice showing that on his dog tag said 1.Kompanie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 469. He then later switched to Gebirgsjäger Ersatz Regiment 137.
The moment Josef died, on the 19th of Februari 1943, Josef served within the 13.Kompanie Gebirgsjäger Regiment 144. This Gebirgsjäger Regiment was part of the 3.Gebirgs-Division and was put into action on the eastern front as part of he 11.Armee in the area of Leningrad.
According to the notice we found Josef died in combat 2km North of Woroschilowsk. The size of the frame is 33,5cm*44cm.
See the last picture for extra info (please note that we don't own that info card).
