Very nice document grouping in very good condition of Ritterkreuzträger Oberstleutnant Fritz Bader

The grouping shows overall normal signs of storage wear. It belonged to Oberstleutnant Fritz Bader who served within the Hochgebirgsjäger Bataillon 3. From 1937 on Fritz served within Gebirgsjäger Regiment 98 as an officer of the I.bataillon. The regiment was part of th 1.Gebirgs-Division and saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland in 1939. The regiment was also put into action during the invasion of France and the Balkans. In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia. 
During his time with the regiment Fritz earned the EKII,EKI, Inf.Sturmabzeichen, Verwundetenabzichen Schwarz/Silber, Ostmedaille, Nahkampfspange in Bronze, Deutsche s Kreuz in Gold and some more.

In October 1943 the I.bataillon Gebirgsjäger Regiment 98 was used to form Hochgebirgsjäger Bataillon 3 and Fritz became the commander. The bataillon was put into action in Italy and fought in the Monte Cassino and LaPezzo area. It's here that for his actions Fritz earned the Ritterkreuz on the 12th of August 1944. On the 1st of September 1944 Fritz became de commander of Gebirgsjäger Regiment 85

  • Period framed picture of Fritz taken during a cross-country skiing contest.
  • Period framed portrait of Fritz wearing all of his medals/awards (including Heeresbergführerabzeichen).
  • Large (44cm*58cm) sketch portrait of Fritz. 
  • Postwar prints of his award documents.
