The document shows overall normal signs of wear. The War Merit Cross was awarded to Obergefreiten Friedrich Rehberg. Friedrich served in the 12.Kompanie/Führungs Nachrichten Regiment 40. The medal was awarded on the 20th of April 1942 and is signed by General Fritz Erich Fellgiebel.
Fellgiebel participated in the preperation of the attack on Hitler that took place on the 20th of July 1944. He managed to escape for a short time, but was detained on the 10th of August 1944 and was sentenced to death on the 4th of September 1944.
