The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 8.Nachschubkompanie infanterie Divisions Nachschubführer 198. This unit was formed in Seotember 1939 on the Grafenwöhr base. It was part of the 'Divisionseinheiten der 98.Infanterie-Division'. In Mai 1944 it was destroyed in Sebastopol, Krim. It was rebuild again in June 1944 and was put into action in Italy the rest of the war.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
