Nice aluminium Wehrmacht Schützen related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 5.Kompanie Schützen Regiment 14. This regiment was formed in October 1938 in Oppeln and was part of the 5.Panzer-Division. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland in September 1939 and after that during the invasion of France in May 1940.
In August 1940 the II.Bataillon of the regiment, 5.-10.kompanie was used to form Kradschützen Bataillon 55 which was also part of the 5.Panzer-Division.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
