The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the '4.Batterie Flak Ersatz Abteilung 1'. This unit was formed in September 1940 in Ludwigsburg with 5 batteries. In 1941/1942 it was converted into a Schwere Flak Ersatz Abteilung 1. Schwere means that the abteilung was equipped with 8,8cm or 10,5cm canons. The unit operated the entire war in Ludwigsburg.
