Very nice Wehrmacht infanterie related tag in used, but excellent condition.

The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 4.Kompanie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon (motorisier) 118. This bataillon was formed in late August 1939 and trained and supplied soldier for Infanterie Regiment 118 which was part of the 36.Infanterie-Division. In November 1940 the bataillon became motorized and was renamed into Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon (motorisiert) 118. In November 1942 the bataillon became Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon (mot) 118
Infanterie Regiment 118 participated in the invasion of France and then Russia. It fought in areas like Pleskau, Moskau, Baranowa, Dorogobusch and Smolensk. 
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
