Details

The tag shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 4.(M.G.) Kompanie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 455. This bataillon was formed in August 1939 and was part of the 255.Infanterie-Division. It trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 455. The division (and her units) saw combat during the invasion of Holland, Belgium and then France. In June 1941 it participated in the invasion of Russia and fought in areas of Gomel, Smolensk, Moskau and Gshatsk.
The 'AB' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
