The overall condition of the document is very good. Shows normal signs of wear. The KvKII was awarded on 20 April 1943 (Hitlers birthday) to Josef who served one of the units that was part of the 346.Infanterie-Division. Around that period this could be Festungs-Infanterie-Regiment 857,Festungs-Infanterie-Regiment 858,Artillerie-Regiment 346,Pionier-Bataillon 346,Nachrichten-Abteilung 346, Versorgungseinheiten 346.
The division was formed in September 1942 and served as an occupation, security and coastal defense unit in France. It fought in the Normandy campaign where it got almost completely destroyed. It then pulled back to Holland and fought against British forces. The document is signed by Generalmajor Diestel. Wearer of the Ritterkreuzes des Eisernen Kreuzes.
