The document is in overall fine condition. The Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2.Klasse was awarded on the 20th of April 1944. Weiss served in the Stab II.Abteilung Grenadier Regiment 725. This regiment was part of the 715.Infanterie-Division. Formed in 1941 in France to defend the Channel Coast. In 1943 Grenadier Regiment 725 was moved to the North of Nimes together with some other regiments. In the autumn of 1943 the division moved to Nizza, Italy. It fought in areas like Anzio,Genua and Rimini.
