The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who was drafted in the 3.Kompanie Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 377. This bataillon was formed in August 1939 as Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 377. It trained and supplied soldiers for Infanterie Regiment 377 which was part of the 225.Infanterie-Division.
In June 1942 the bataillon moved to Denmark and an Ausbildungs Bataillon was added. The Ersatz Bataillon moved back to Germany in November 1942 and in 1944 the Ersatz Bataillon was disbanned.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
