Nice aluminium Luftwaffe Fallschirmjäger related tag in used, but good condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. The number '62855' tells us that the soldier served within the 12.Kompanie Fallschirmjäger Regiment 1. This regiment was formed in April 1938. A part of this regiment fought during the invasion of Denmark and Norway in April 1940. After that it participated in the invasion of Belgium (fort Eben-Emael) and also the Netherlands. In 1941 it participated in the invasion of Crete and later a part of the regiment also fought in Russia around the Leningrad area. A couple of the FJR1 veteran also fought in Tunesia in 1942-1943.
In 1943 it fought in Italy in Monte-Cassino and in 1944 in France, Ardennes and Germany.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype and the 'T' means the soldier received a Tetanus shot.
