Very nice aluminium 1.batterie Artillerie Regiment 77 dog tag in used, but good condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the I.Abteilung 1.batterie Artillerie Regiment 77 and was equipped with leichte Feldhaubitze 18 (10,5cm). The I.Abteilung was formed in October 1937 in Freiburg. It saw its first combat during the invasion of Poland.
In January 1940 the I.Abteilung was equipped with 15cm schwere Feldhaubitze of Czech origin. The regiment participated in the invasion of France and later Russia. In early april 1943 the abteilung was equipped again with the leichte Feldhaubitze 18 and where also issued the RSO (Raupenschlepper Ost) to tow them.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
