The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the 1.Kompanie Bau Bataillon Wien. This unit was formed in April 1940 in Vienna, Austria. During the Westfeldzug it was part of the 1.Armee. In the summer of 1940 it was disbanned and its personel was absorbed within Bau Bataillon 24.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
