Very nice aluminium Wehrmacht Nachschub related dog tag in used, but excellent condition.
The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 1.Kleine Kraftwagen Kolonne Divisions Nachschub Führer 173. This unit was formed in August 1939 when the 73.Infanterie-Division was formed. This division saw its first combat during the invaison of Poland in September 1939.
After Poland it was put into action during the invasion of France in May 1940, then Rumania, Greece and from June 1941 in Russia. It fought in areas like Jassy, Mius, Melitopol, Krim and in the last stages of the war in Warschau.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
