Very nice aluminium erkennungsmarke in used, but very good condition.
The tag shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the Werkstatt Kompanie motorisiert 216. This unit was part of the Infanterie Divisions Versorgungs Einheiten 216 (216.Infanterie-Division).
A Werkstatt or Workshop companies were used for the repair of motor vehicles, weapons and other army equipment.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
This tag is published in the book 'Deutsche Erkennungsmarken' by Jean Höidal (page 113).
Werkstatt related items are not that easy to find.
