Nice aluminium dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' in used, but good condition.
The tag shows overall signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Vermessungs-Abteilung 604. This abteilung was formed in August 1939 in Waiblingen.
In July 1941 the abteilung was renamed into Vermessungs- und Karten-Abteilung 604. The last known unit the abteilung was part of was the 1.Panzerarmee. The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
Nice dogtag of a harder to find unit.
This tag is published in the book 'Deutsche Erkennungsmarken' by Jean Höidal (page 95).
