The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall signs of wear. It's a well preserved grounddug find. It belonged to a member who served/was drafted in the Stammkompanie III.Bataillon Ersatz und Ausbildungs Regiment (mot) Feldherrnhalle. This bataillon was formed in September 1942 as Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon Feldherrnhalle.
In September 1943 it became Ersatz und Ausbildungs Bataillon (mot) Feldherrnhalle and now consists out of 3 bataillons of which the III.bataillon was a Pioniere und Nachrichten bataillon which was stationed in Danzig. In March 1944 the III.Bataillon was renamed into Panzer Pionier Ersatz Bataillon Feldherrnhalle. and was part of the Ersatz Brigade-Feldherrnhalle. It trained and supplied soldiers for Panzer Pionier Bataillon Feldherrnhalle 1 and 2.
The 'A' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
