Stb. Ln.Abt.H.mot 8 Erkennungsmarke

The tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in the 1.Fernsprech-Kompanie Luftnachrichten H. motorisier Abteilung 4. This abteilung was formed in late August 1939 in Nürnberg (Nbg) and consisted only out of 2 companies and Gerätkolonne. The Abteilung was intended as an interface between the Army (Heer) and the Luftwaffe. During the invasion of Poland it was part of Koluft 1 (Kommandeur der Luftwaffe) under the command of the 1.Armee. During the invasion of the Low Countries it was part of Koluft 1 under the command of the 1.Armee and during the invasion of Russia it was part of Koluft 16 under the command of the 18.Armee. 
In May 1942 the Stab was used to form the Stab III./Luftnachrichten-Regiment 31. It still operated in Russia. In June 1944 it was used to form the Stab/Luftnachrichten-Verbindungs-Abteilung 2.
The 'H' on the tag means that these detachments were deployed with the air force units etc. subordinate to the army.
