Stb./Grz.Pi./73 EKM (Rus/Eifel)
The tag shows overall normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served within the Stab Grenz Pionier Bataillon 73. This bataillon was formed in November 1938 and was part of the 52.Infanterie-Division. In 1940 the bataillon became a 'Heerestruppe' and was renamed into Pionier Bataillon 73.
The bataillon saw it's first action in Southern Russia in 1941 as part of the 17.Armee and the 1.Panzerarmee. In 1942 it was [ut into action in the Kaukasus, in 1943/1944 in the Krim and in late 1944 and 1945 in the Eifel area as part of the Heeresgruppe B. The 'B' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
Nice tag of a unit that saw plenty of action.
