Very nice and very rare Panzer Lehr Regiment related erkennungsmarke in used, but excellent condition.
The tag shows overall normal signs of use. It belonged to a soldier who served with in the III.(Panzerjäger) Abteilung Panzer Lehr Regiment.
Panzer Lehr Regiment was formed in October 1937 at the Panzer Truppen Schule Wünsdorf. In July 1939 the regiment was known as Panzer Lehr Regiment 'Wünsdorf'.
The III.Panzerjäger Abteilung, especially the 12.Kompanie of the Panzer Lehr Regiment was used to train and supply men for Panzerjäger Abteilung 643. In April 1940 this unit was renamed into Panzerjäger Abteilung 643 (Sfl). The 'Sfl' stands for 'Selbstfahrlafette'. As far as we could research this abteilung was equipped with the Panzerjäger I. This was the 4.7 cm Pak (t) mounted on the Panzer I. Ausf.B chassis (see last photo).
From march 1942 on Panzerjäger Abteilung 643 (Sfl) was later absorbed (in fases) by Infanterie Regiment Grossdeutschland.
The 'O' on both parts of the tag stands for the soldier's bloodtype.
Very nice tag that is much rarer then a Fallschirmjäger or Waffen-ss tag!
