Its complete with pin and catch on the reverse. The diameter is approx 4cm.

Runic script is the oldest known script used by the Germanic peoples. Because of their Germanic origins, runes were extensively used by the Nazis. The image of the double lightning bolt of the SS and single lightning bolt of the 'Deutsche Jugend', the Sig rune (ᛋ), is well known.

The Rune on this brooch means Hagalaz and is the ninth rune of the Old Futhark and symbolises hail. The rune stands for disruption, unexpected and chaotic forces, both in nature and in inner life, and can indicate necessary change and transformation. It represents the destructive power of hail that can destroy crops, but also the potential for renewal after a crisis.
