Details

All pieces of the grouping show overall signs of wear. They belonged to a soldier Franz Geh who was drafted in the 3.M.G. Kp Ersatz Bataillon Augsburg in August 1935. From August 1939 till March 1941 he served in the 8.M.G.Kompanie Infanterie Regiment 488 and saw action during the invasion of France. He then shortly served for 3 months with the Kommando 268.Infanterie-Division and just before the invasion of Russian he moved back to the 8.(M.G.) Kompanie Infanterie Regimnt 488. 6 days into the invasion he got wounded.
He then spent 1,5 years in the Genesendenkompanie Infanterie Ersatz Bataillon 488 and also in the Stammkompanie. From January 1943 till January 1945 Franz served within the Kommandostab Gebirgsjägerschule and the last months of the war in the Verbindungsstab 7.

Franz was trained to operated the s.M.G.08, P08 and the s.M.G.34. He was awarded (at least) the EK2 and Verwundetenabzeichen inSchwarz. The highest rank reached was Feldwebel.

Wehrpass, complete with portrait of Franz. Unfortunately the cover is loose. All pages with entries have been scanned.
Deutscher Alpenverein commemorative (10 year member) award document. Dated February 1943.
Gebirgsjägerschule 'Rules/rescrictions' document. Dated February 1943.
Heeres-Hochgbirgsschul Lehrgruppe III evaluation note. Franz passed the Heeresbergführer winter course, but he probably never took or passed the summer course and was therefor not awarded the Heeresbergführerabzeichen.
