Very nice EKII and Soccer award document set in used, but excellent condition.
The set shows overall normal signs of wear. The Eisernes Kreuz 2.Klasse was awarded to Gefreiten Hans Michels who served within the 8.Kompanie Grenadier Regiment (mot) 60. This regiment was formed in October 1935 as Infanterie Regiment 60 and part of the 16.Infanterie-Division 'Der Windhund'. This division saw its first combat during the invasion of France. In July 1941 it operated in Russia and fought in areas like Kiev, Kursk, Don and Mius.
In October 1942 the regiment was renamed into Grenadier Regiment (motorisiert) 60. In the last stages of the war it fought on the Western front in Normandy, Aachen and the Elbe area. The EKII document is signed by Generalmajor und Kommandeur 16.Infanterie-Division (mot.) Gerhard Helmuth Detloff Graf von Schwerin, wearer of the Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub und Schwertern.
The second document is a 'In honour of his membership of the football team' document.
