Very nice aluminium Genesenden Batterie Schwere Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung Motorisiert 70 dog tag in used, but good condition.
The dog tag or 'Erkennungsmarke' shows normal signs of wear. It belonged to a soldier who served in Genesenden Batterie Schwere Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung Motorisiert 70. The abteilung was formed in August of 1939 in Koblenz. It trained and delivered soldiers for 2 different artillerie regiments, Heeres-Kustenartillerie-Abteilungen,Panzer-Artillerie-Regimenter and Heeres-Artillerie-Brigaden. In Juni 1942 the abteilung moved to Nancy, France. In December 1942 the ersatz unit was moved to St.Avold, France and in Februari 1944 it was stationed in Metz. In September of that year the abteilung was used to form the III.Abteilung of Artillerie Regiment Palm. Later known as Artillerie-Regiment 1462 der Kampfgruppe Krause. It was destroyed in Metz in November 1944.
The 'AB' on the tag stands for the bloodtype of the soldier.
